I was going to make a joke about a job but it's just a monthly social security check for Joe until his legs finally snap and he gets disability too.

Joe does not get Social Security. He never paid enough into the system to be eligible. Same for Medicare. So all of those "gigs" he probably did not report and pay taxes on. He thought he was "getting over", but now the chickens have come home to roost. No Social Security, no Medicare......he will be fishing quarters out of his guitar case until he dies.
