He has to rely on his own supply because the odds of his gun friendly neighbors having a stash of 5.7 is slim to none. Not really an ideal "survival" gun in an urban environment.

Buy a gun with a common round.

I have one and it's expensive to shoot. Just get the .45. It's fun but the cost during the Obama era was ,75-1.25 per shot and it hasn't gotten better. Ain't no brother worth 0 75.
