SEALs were the biggest fuckups in Iraq and Afghanistan. Marcus Luttrell of Lone Survivor never actually fired his weapon in combat. But they made a movie where he kills like 50 members of the Taliban by himself.

There was an interview with an Afghan interpreter or maybe it was the guy who saved Luttrell, something like that, and he explained how the SEALs were so easy to find and track. They'd hear the helicopters coming from miles off and would easily know where it let the troops out. They all had boots that nobody local would ever have so finding their tracks was piss easy. The guy explained a bunch of other stuff and it really made the whole elite soldiers (lol sorry elite "sailors") thing seem farcical.

So they just cut the ropes at the top of the tree and left them there without removing them. Within an hour the hajis found the ropes still wrapped on the trees and simply followed the footsteps of the SEALs before ambushing them and killing them all, except Marcus who ran away and left his team to die.

When the Rangers had to rescue Marcus and recover the bodies of 20 dead guys they also had trouble getting to the ground from the helicopters. One of the guys just said "fuck it" and jumped instead of using the rope and nearly killed himself.

Goggins failed training schools more times than he passed. He failed Air Force training for para-rescue but they let him go into TACP and passed him quickly. He failed BUDS multiple times and likely got some type of "instructor looks the other way when he fails" agreement with the Navy as he clearly never completed SEAL training. Then he tried to screen for stuff like Delta Force or DEVGRU and failed. He also had a heart condition and was given a waiver that no one else has ever gotten for that condition. Usually when you have some major health condition you are immediately taken from a physically demanding position for liability reasons.

Goggins never saw combat. He once was told to go out on patrol and whined to someone in USSOCOM that he had some type of "immunity" from going into combat. And some high ranking officer apparently screamed at a Navy commander that "Goggins wasn't supposed to go off base". Guy was hated by everyone apparently. Lots of SEALs shit all over him in books or in interviews because he was writing books and doing interviews on active duty while SEALs were dying fighting against terrorists.

All those guys cover for each other so it doesn't Ruin the ex seal hustle. Even ones that are normally pretty straight up like Don Shipley cover for guys like Dan Bilzerian, who is about as phony a piece of shit as their is.
But Shipley admits a guy can get through training but the real test comes later. So like Goggins, you can have your trident but if you can't hack it on the teams, you get relegated to some support position where you aren't going to go anywhere career wise as a SEAL.

Four SEALs from SDV1 in Hawaii, a swimming team, take a mission on a mountain in Afghanistan with no water, that they have no idea how to conduct. They get ambushed and call for a helicopter rescue or some backup from helicopters to fire rockets and save them. It is four SEALs against maybe 5-6 nigger terrorists. Two of the SEALs die instantly. One, Axelson, hides in a cave and it takes a week to find his body. Marcus hides in a local village without firing his weapon and just runs away leaving his team to die.

First helicopter finally gets there and goes on the radio asking "is it clear to land?". No response. Second helicopter just flies right ahead to land without clearance. Gets immediately shot down by an RPG with 16 SEALs and SOAR members on it. All dead. All helicopters in the area pull out until night. Navy grounds all SEALs and calls in a Ranger team from across the country to handle the recovery of the bodies and search for Marcus Luttrell and Matthew Axelson both of whom are missing. They find Marcus with all of his ammo hiding in a nearby village. Marcus would get a Navy Cross for this. Michael Murphy who was team leader gets a Medal of Honor. Matthew Axelson is found dead in a cave having fired off every single round of his ammunition and then hid to avoid capture despite being shot a bunch of times.

Dan Bilzerian was never a SEAL. He failed BUDS when he allegedly picked up a loaded gun at the range by the trigger and fired it by mistake. Gun mistakes usually get you dropped from almost all weapons based units outside of basic infantry. What's funny is that Michael Murphy once shot a SEAL in the chest during SQT and didn't get thrown out when he almost killed another guy.

Shipley knows that Bilzerian is not a SEAL and never was. I've never seen him defend Bilzerian's ridiculous claims of passing SEAL training twice but being dropped. Only one person I know of actually passed all of SEAL training and was dropped and that was the infamous Benjamin Sifrit case. Where he was a serial killer with his wife and they were kidnapping couples and raping and killing them.
