Jim Norton has retroactively ruined Opie and Anthony for me

There were shows where I just assumed he wasn't in that day because he wouldn't say anything for 60-90 minutes. He later admitted he was writing his shitty books during that time. He would then make some terrible puddle of aids , toe trigger, hat with gutters abortion joke that made nana fall over laughing like an hour in.
How Norton was ever given an equal spot contractually blows my mind.

To be fair, he wasn’t paid as much as O&A but he’s still considered third mic and an equal talent, certainly above any employees. Could Opie or Ant fuck off for an hour and write a book on air? How about Erock or Sam? At least they have the excuse if they’re fucking off that O&A isn’t a lot to produce for. But it is a lot to entertain for. Not to mention how many times it was brought up that Jim would show up as the intro theme was playing and leave an hour early for comedy gigs.

My favorite is Nortons lack of self awareness in all of this. We know the stories from Colin about hiring him to write only to watch porn the whole time. We heard for years how insecure Jim was and how he was afraid of being fired, how Krock was gunning to fire Jim, etc. My favorite incident is when he left early and Tim Sabean sent out a company wide email saying “Do we pay him when he does this?” to which baby boy BROODED and emailed him back angrily.

Yes Jim, it is a perfectly acceptable question if you’re paying the guy who leaves an hour early everyday.

Lazy fuck.

It was never an equal spot contractually. He didn't have to work as many days as O&A and could take time off for acting or standup. He could take a week off on his own but Opie and Anthony were not supposed to do shows without each other unless previously agreed upon. He got paid over ten times less than both Opie and Anthony individually.
How about Erock or Sam?
Erock would spend all day looking at bikini pictures or writing fan fiction or his time travel movie. Sam spent most days networking to get WWE or radio gigs. Norton at least had to speak on air and pay attention sometimes.

Seeing Jimmy being swallowed alive by his perversions and depravity has been fun, but not in a HILLLLLLLLLLARIOUS kind of Nana way, or a buffoonish Joe way. It's more like a really gay tragi-comedy kind of deal. His Nordic he-bride is obviously killing him, to a point where he might not even outlast Nana. He's all fat and tired looking now, and soon he'll be broke too. It all adds up to a really sordid situation.

Lucky Louie was brought to HBO at the time where they would sign 100 shows and just throw all the shit at the wall. HBO had shows premiering on its various other channels like HBO Family or HBO Zone. They were just splurging on everything. So someone connected in show business like Louis CK basically got a deal to make a low budget sitcom because HBO's (((executives))) were giving shows to anyone.

It was at a time where bad shows would get a first season order even if they were awful. So Lucky Louie had a painfully unfunny and awful first season that basically everyone hated. And you could tell that O&A and the other comics knew it was dogshit but didn't want to waste time arguing with Norton.

Louie is basically another version of Curb. But the plots are stolen from O&A show stories. So O&A did a perv switch news story about a dentist who molested his patients. Then Louie has an episode about a dentist who puts his dick in Louis CK's mouth a few months later.
Wasn’t Lucky Louie replaced in the same timeslot by Flight of the Conchords? I liked that show, but I have a feeling most here would not care for it. And I’m almost certain that Jimmy was enraaaaaged by Louie’s edgy, relevant comedy being replaced by wacky Kiwis.

Not on the same night. The first episode of Flight of the Conchords aired on Sunday the week after The Sopranos ended.

I think I'm alone in this, but 90% of the time the show made me laugh it was Norton being silly. I genuinely found him funny, especially in the early 10s, when neither Opie or Anthony were pulling their weight.

They were demoralized from getting kicked off FM. And SXM merged, making them a powerless little show in a closet. There wasn’t much to pump up, and Norton was probably capitalizing on knowing all the FM stations wanted to fire him.
