I need to bite the bullet and build one.

wouldnt a macbook with the M cpus be more suitable for video editing, they last forever too. if you want a PC you are going have to pay so much more for a subpar experience

it's been so long since i've upgraded any components in my computer that i don't even know how out of date my shit is, probably a lot. last time i opened it up was to install another SSD and i couldn't find my old one. it took me about 20 minutes to realize i installed an NVMe drive and it was on the fawking motherboard right in front of my face.

honestly though most games are such shit what's even the point of upgrading or building a PC for games specifically. i favor a desktop ultimately just because it's more comfortable for real work and shitposting.

i think Fry's Electronics (rip) used to do that. i would bet any of those ugly brick and mortar computer repair shops you see would offer it as a service too. you could use something like pc part picker to make sure all your shit is compatible then probably just drop it off.

The Macbooks M series are really amazing machines and you should reconsider. There are windows builds for ARM and you can play games via Whisky. https://getwhisky.app/

I dislike Apple as a company but you don't get the bloatware and you'll be getting a rock solid machine that holds value better.

I bought a pre built $200 PC from Amazon thats designed to do office work shit. Plays video games just fine, but I haven’t downloaded any games past 2015 so i’m not sure.

I've got about 5 of those Amazon refurbs, I really need to move up to Win'11, but every new iteration is less control/more spying... ahh dunno

I have a HP laptop for personal admin, and I have a thinkpad laptop for work.

I’ve not had a good PC I’m so long. I realised I don’t even know where to get one that isn’t absolutely full of bloatware bullshit.

I don’t want to build my own, I know it’s cost effective and better, but I don’t want to, the last time I did that was also about 2010 and I don’t want to learn how again. I’m not a hardware guy.
