That’s why they called it a tequila old fashioned. Rum old fashioneds are good too if you use a good, barrel-aged rum.

Brandy? A traditional old-fashioned is bourbon or rye, with bitters, syrup and an orange peel, no? I mean, I guess it must be true because he totally googled it. I've just never been offered one - only "bourbon or rye" - unless it's a special variant that's outlined on the menu.
Also, Pedantic Pat should probably realize that the tequila one was a novelty/spin on the original and not a mistake.
