Sports enthusiasts are usually just horrible gatekeepers and autistically unaware of how unapproachable and alienating the game can be for outsiders who haven't grown up on a steady diet of it.

Also using team sports as a competition just sucks by default because it's so much randomness.
It's impossible to take seriously in a competitive aspect for me, it should be about entertainment.
People in europe care about football, basketball and hockey but couldn't give a SHIT about baseball.
As people mentioned before - I think it's becuase NFL, NBA understood this and went with the times.

It's probably the second most popular sport in the U.S. after football. Most of these sports media companies still say that boxing is more popular than MMA which is a farce.

I see more college basketball clothing near me than NBA gear. And far more NFL or MLB gear than NBA. Unless you live in the inner city around niggers in the ghetto then I doubt you are seeing anyone care about basketball.
