Does this six figure professional author really think this is a good idea? Hey, they've already made clear I'm not getting re-signed and they have no interest in further pitches from me. I cost them money and the acquisitions editor on up look foolish for having signed me. I also did a HORRIBLE job promoting the last two books they published, doing almost no media, podcasts, signings, events, or really anything except writing hundreds of aggressive and divisive political tweets a day and then saying "If you like this takedown of Trump and my post encouraging people to beat women in MAGA hats, buy my books".

He's dead in the water. Tor now knows what they bought and what it was worth and won't ever do that again. You also have several forces working behind the scenes now to normalize and allow people to discuss openly what a psycho asshole and bad investment he is. Even Angry Robot knows this now, as they didn't pick up Tiny Tim: A Madea Christmas or any other projects he pitched them.

He'd be doing the JDA and EVS route and selling thousands of dollars of books upfront himself. Or seeking a new agent. Or breaking up In The Red and publishing it in a periodical or anthology. ANYTHING.

Instead, he's either going to have all his special boy status returned to him with a six figure deal and a blue checkmark or nothing. He was a Liz Clarke beard hair away from getting The Ark or Starship Repo made into a Spielberg film, in his mind, and he's not starting over.
