One of my good friends is Scottish.

He always describes things as "cozy" and loves things that are "quaint."

At first i thought it was because he's an academic type and half a fag. But that's not true. He uses those words because those are some of the best feelings that he's ever experienced living in Scotland.

The photo I posted is something called a "Munchies box" - deep fried pizza, burgers, sausages, fish, chicken nuggets and onion rings, all on a bed of "cheps" served in a large pizza box. Best accompanied by a 2 litre bottle of "juice" (Irn Bru).

They do love their fried food up there, but tbf they do actually have some great beef and seafood, but it's pricey so poorer folks have to eat tasty but poisonous shit like this.

It's naive to think that only poor people eat shit like this. You're kinda right about going out for dinner, you won't see many jakie fucks out but I've seen enough high class work parties to know that they'll plough through a munchy box no bother.

It is possible to go out for a reasonably priced meal and enjoy the benefits of the superior meat and seafood, I've worked in kitchens a while and some places take the piss but mostly a decent steak or burger isn't extortionate. It's not so much that our poorest are so terrible (even though they are kind of), it's more that the middle class is one rung up from scum and that's where the violent crime figures are. It's a mob mentality country and people will fight you over a pack of smokes after a drink. It's why I keep telling people on here that immigrants to Scotland need to have balls to fuck around.

Edinburgh's a different story. The one difference I hear between there and everywhere else (haven't worked through there in a long time) is that people who go out for a meal are too snooty to drink. West coasters don't mind getting drunk and loud whilst out at dinner.
