the fact you dont realizes that baffles me

opie has been doing it since he was 18

he could have been a model
The fucking RADIO industry. Yes, I'm aware there are other facets of show business and entertainment where others are still making fuck loads of money.

Alright, I'm tappin' out SNIFFFF

never mind the legacy media companies who obviously do

What is your point? that huge radio salaries don’t exist anymore?

No, it isn't. For a variety of reasons. The one that's relevant here is the fact that it's not really an industry. You've got some aberrations like Spotify but podcasting is fundamentally a bottom-up enterprise: any retard can record himself blathering into a mic and upload it to the Internet, and then monetize it in a number of different ways.

Compare this to both terrestial and satellite radio broadcasting, in which commercial airtime is monopolized by billion-dollar corporations. You need to get hired by one of them to make a living off of radio.

So yes, stupid, the radio shock jock is a dinosaur career path and will never truly come back. Egdy podcasters who only have to adhere to Jewtube or Patreon's ToS are not the same thing.

Podcasting isn't an "industry"?

Even if that was true, which it isn't

Advertising is an industry you monkey, podcasting is radio done online, it works the exact same way as radio, and if you have blue tooth in your car like everyone does these days it comes out of your car too

You are arguing format right now, the way radio monetized is the exact same way everything is monetized right now with podcasting, people buy ad reads or commercials or whatever

So companies don't hire personalities anymore? you are retarded, the medium they operate doesn't change the fact people hire talent for podcasting still

It never left, and yes they are child

I don't understand where all this passion is coming from -- do you own a podcasting company or something?

Think about all the stupid shit like paid vacations and 401ks and shit like that the Bbbbbbbboys had. Shock jocks in the late '90s had corporate perks like they were managers at AllState or something. It was an industry, career path and lifestyle that's no longer available.

When I use the term "Shock Jock" I'm specifically tying it to the radio industry and traditional radio. No one calls YouTubers or podcasters or Twitchers who do shocking things "shock jocks." Child.

Without the infrastructure and the machine of traditional radio, I do not believe O&A would have been able to use their raw talents to make millions on YouTube with the amount of effort they put in.

You post on this obscure forum, with all your vast wisdom, and say that shit
So your argument is that any opinion posted on here lacks wisdom and shouldn't be taken seriously?

That's certainly fair enough, but doesn't do much to strengthen your own argument you've been posting on this obscure forum

I loved the O&A show. My only point was shock jocks with big corporate contracts don't exist anymore on radio and you freaked out for reasons unknown to me.

Maybe not publicly anymore

Probably because that amount of transparency can lead to bad publicity

But joe rogan is our generations “shock jock” and you just dont wanna admit it
