I'm going to start running through the series soon. I doubt the writing is amazing, but it was the singular vision of one eccentric, brilliant man. The games were ahead of their time until they weren't. Love older PC games that were created by talented, driven individual(s) instead of 500 people using the same 3 engines and were focus tested.

if you haven't played it before you'll like Ultima VII. the writing is not bad at all. can't speak to a lot of the other games.

Assassins Creed has been shit since 3, except Black Flag maybe... The story was clearly supposed to end with 3, but they ruined it so the series could become the new Call of Duty.

I was so disappointed when they made me play a native savage in 3. Really ruined the game.

Black Flag was awesome tho.

They did shoehorn a ton of SJW shit though, but the story was supposed to get wrapped up around the 2012 end of the world thing, yet it was clear as day they changed it so they could do what they're doing now, release a new one every year, exactly like Call of Duty...It's just so disappointing, I was OBSESSED with AC 2 and Brotherhood, same with Fallout...

I just assumed the writing was fine, but doesn't hold a lot of gravitas. I wanted to play Ultima Online and Everquest so much as a kid. Couldn't get a computer while they were popular. My first MMO was Dark of Camelot when I was around 13 and it was great. Got banned so fast.
