I posted this 2008 story back in January but with contempt of court in mind it bears reminding:

Reminder: Pat went to his restraining order hearing wearing his Cumia best. Blazer over the slurm t shirt and his vandalism sneakers

His wife is also on the hook for his debts according to Wisconsin laws. She's actively participated. There's no reason to have sympathy for her. She owes "John Doe" as well.
That’s why she looks so haggard in the news reports, the large debt is due and they can’t pay it. Piggy of course doesn’t mind - he’s been leeching of women his whole life.

How does this work?

Have they submitted their argument already for why he’s in contempt of court? The judge reads it before the hearing and gives Patrick a chance to argue? Does Pat get to see the argument so he can prepare a rebuttal?

Or is it just literally he’s read the filing, and will make his judgment with Pat present? There’s nothing to even argue over?

Seeing Niki go to prison will be just as funny if not funnier than Pat. He won't care of course, being a narcissist and all, but normal people always feel it harder when their fuckups affect other people more than themselves.
It would be the best thing that ever happened to her. She’d be safe from Rick, all the box she can eat, no responsibility to worry about. Would be like summer camp.

Usually what happens is order to show cause. The judge has his mind made up prior to the hearing, but he'll give the defendant(s) a chance to plead his case if he shows up to court.

Then the judge decides if he's in contempt, fined, and/or goes to jail.

Again, I'm not a lawyer, and this sometimes varies by state. Judges are also unpredictable.
