I challenge you to think of any radio bit funnier than the 'Cake Stomp' ...and it was impromptu

Only Jimmy and Anthony hated callers. Callers made some of best bits on the show. Fans doing stuff like harassing other shows and assaults on the media regularly made it on air. Fans carried stuff like Homeless Shopping Spree. Callers made segments like Vos Shining, Misheard song lyrics, dream interpretations, and even Jocktober. Callers would also mix it up with guest and comedians as well. It was a caller who was a former SEAL who asked Chris Kyle on the air if the person he punched was Ventura which became a huge story. "Shut up Bobby you big fat pig".

Sure callers would bomb but they would kill or ask interesting questions just as often. My guess is that Opie loved callers and found it fun to interact with the fans. Like when the fans would call up and talk about something only to plug one of Jimmy's gigs. Everyone in studio would laugh at that. It is revisionist history to say that "everyone" hated callers. But Jimmy and Anthony were closet fag lovers and wanted to make the show worse on purpose. "The cunt won't even look at me". So they said "no more callers" yet Jimmy's endless porn whores and WWE and UFC athletes were fine. And Anthony's race rants and gun rants were fine.

The reason Anthony and Jim cannot take callers anymore is that pests get through. And say things like "Sue Lightning you fucked a boy" or "Where's the Chip cartoon money you stole?". Same reason Stern only takes fake calls from interns and show regulars and not random callers. Because then Wigward from the Hamptons might get on air again.
Damn right! Callers were some of the best moments, bomb or funny! Except when brother Joe called in, all his calls were shit

Well that’s because you’re smart. Go check out the comments under Opie and Anthony YouTube videos, it’s constant bitching about Opie and taking callers.

And Anthony has said numerous times on his crappy show that he used to hate taking calls. I don’t know about Jimmy. As usual, he has spoken out of both sides of his mouth on that issue. But I was mostly referring to fans, the bitch constantly about how many calls were taken.

I loved Bigfoot on Stern, i did. Everything he said (abacco, suing Amont, etc) was gold.

Two things I hate about this video.

1. That dumb look on Opies face after smashes the guitar
2. The live audience trying to be a part of da show...fucking cringe

Erock what else do we hate about this?

I hate Danny's little elf body shuffling around in the background. Fucker is barely an inch over Sandy Kane, remove that hat and he is on par.. Tiny lil creature he is.

It was a good post.

Of course it was a good post. You're responding to another fake hater account who can't even do the lowercase L trick right.

Opie created a workplace culture and show brand of real, authentic cruelty, which was the guiding light of the show. Sometimes it was hilarious, other times it fell flat.

Sometimes when it fell flat, the show got meta and it was even funnier. "wha happen?"

One of the major flaws in the revisionist history about Opie "taking lame calls" is the fact that on Satellite, the callers were terrible. The bulk of the people who propagate the myth that Opie went to the phones as a crutch ONLY listen to the Satellite era on repeat. They never try to listen to anything from before XM, so they have no clue that the O&A show was BUILT ON that sudden interactivity.

Instant feedback was incredible in an era where Stern had to wait hours, the next morning sometimes, just to read a Fax from fans who couldn't call in. When the show was on FM, the callers added a third dimension to the show that truly made it pop. On satellite, the quality of callers dipped, and of course the johnny come latelys who only know the 'near death' era of the show think they have it all figured out because they parrot Cumia's BS.

During one Jocktober segment O&A read old hate faxes that they were sent from 'listeners'. But the actual faxes were from the other jocks at the station that hated them and their show. Like Dave Herman the pedophile who said that they were "sick" yet was raping seven-year-olds in his free time and was not caught until decades later. The jocks used to post old hate faxes on the office walls for O&A to see.

I still remember the satellite callers still being the best callers of any radio show in history. And some of the bad calls were part of a bit where they would take an awful call on purpose just to goof on the caller. One of the best O&A bits was telling someone that what they wanted to put on the air was really funny.....but in fact was guaranteed to bomb. Like Sal's "Don't Get the Panda Angry" or Erock's famous airplane crash photos or the Intern Tomato bit. They would constantly tell callers "dude your call is amazing...O&A will put you on air" only for them to be ripped on mercilessly once actually on the air.

I will always prefer the wide open general public (in the area) interacting with them from WNEW... Outraged cunt women calling up, psychotic women egging them on. The gay callers would get trampled.

Also it was funny when every now and then, someone got to them, and to hear them all lose confidence and start barking at them was priceless.

Just more evidence that Nana is co-dependent... When Carol Miller was the lone jock willing to verbalize the old guard's position to their faces. She called Opie useless and said Anthony isn't useless because he can do impressions. Anthony, Co-Dependent Cumia, rushes in "No no, we're both useless equally." Just take the compliment idiot, or make it funny.
