You can appreciate Basquiat and Pollock while acknowledging 20th century American art was a massive CIA psyop.
Not really a fan of theirs, but I don't hate all modern art either. Abstract stuff can be pretty cool. But then you see some stuff and just think "Alright, who donated this hunk of shit for a major tax write off?" I'd be curious to know more about that last statement. I've heard about the book "The Cultural Cold War" about the topic but haven't gotten around to reading it.
