That explains why Raw was so fucking bad for the most part in 2002/2003. Was Brother Love the dumbfuck who thought HBK's big return being Nash lumbers out to the ring to announce he's the new nWo member was the best way to do it?
I'm sure it was Bruce but it was done under Vince. That's how it worked.

Invasion could have been the biggest wrestling angle in history and Vince instead used it to be a spiteful asshole by having WCW/ECW be represented by midcarders and WWF talent and using it to bury those promotions. After WM X-7 Vince immediately started to make bad decisions. When he tried testing the waters for a WWF-produced WCW revival, he did it by using a Monday Night Raw in Tacoma, WA for a Buff Bagwell/Booker T match that I don't think was advertised to the audience. Mind you, Raw was being taped in fucking Atlanta of all places the next week, and he didn't do it there. What a silly fucking guy he is.

Imagine how great it would have been if we got WWF Raw, WCW Thunder, and ECW on the weekend post-2001 buyout. Instead we got what we got.
This is Vince logic:

Buy the competition
Bury it
Try and build it up in your own name

I can't question Vince as a businessman, but the guy has not the most logical to say the least. A woman is out there saying he shit in her hair.

Raw in 2003 was like televised AIDS.

Unpopular opinion... The DMAN would rather watch RAW from 2002-2003 than anything WWE has done in 15 years.

You have to remember 2002 was like a clean slate for them... The company had a new name, new look, and they were trying to decide on a direction. The aimlessness created some great stuff as they were trying to figure out their new brand.

To be fair, some of it came from outside pressure. He wanted to make it WCW RAW and WWF SmackDown, but TNN bitched because they bought WWF content not WCW. He should have pushed back on that, but they ended up doing it a year later anyway with Flair on RAW and Vince on SmackDown. They should have just slowly built the storyline until those guys became available. Flair and all 3 of the NWO showed up almost immediately after the WCW storyline ended. It was like a kick in the teeth.

Even without Goldberg, Sting, etc. You had a roster of dudes who were former WCW guys in the WWF who remained Team WWF and were aimless midcarders. Raven, Jericho, Benoit, Eddie, all the guys who left WCW for the WWF could have carried the new WCW brand. Plus even guys like Ron Simmons, Goldust, Curt Hennig all could have ended up on the WCW show. You didn't need to hire anyone, they had a shitload of talent in-house.

The DMAN is still sore that MTV didn't pickup the Farmclub.com/ECW hybrid show that would have been the perfect mix of brutal violence and 2000s bullshit music.

In Vince's mind there was no longer a need for WWF RAW to be live. He only went live to compete with WCW. When he bought them, he was willing to brand WCW as the live show and go back to WWF being pre-taped for UPN. ECW HEAT on MTV also would have been perfect for that brand. They really could have had a 3-pronged audience of entirely different viewers in different demos and regions, but Vince opted to remain homogeneous.
