Tenacious D isn't nearly as good as Weird Al, Spinal Tap, Dethklok, Steel Panther, Dread Zeppelin, or Richard Cheese. So at best, they're maybe the seventh best parody band in the USA. That's just sad.

Tenacious D is at least better than Steel Panther/Metal Skool. It boggles my mind how they became the parody glam metal band. Most of their songs don't really do that well.

I liked them, but the gag has worn really thin now. And the bass player who used to play the closeted gay one left the band, and they haven't been as good since.

I remember them being promoted as hot shit on the website Metal Sludge back in the day when they were called Metal Skool. They were a cover band that did parody songs at clubs. That should of been their ceiling. I guess Death To All But(t) Metal is a cute song.

Their first album was the only good one since it was more Weird Al take a known hit and write different lyrics. Their new attempts at actually writing shit is exactly what it is. Fucking shit.
