What's the deal with home work? What happens if you live in a double wide? They don't call it double wide work. White people and their houses and work, amirite? WHAT? TOO REAL?
What happens if you never do homework and wind up with a 1.78 HS GPA? You do open mics and fail to write a new book in 4 years and are forced to write on spec because publishers won't touch you and your "agent" lives at the Red Roof Inn.

Some jails allow for decent take out on the weekends, but it's expensive. You can get burger platters and shit.They don't have McDonald's in jail
I was on transport with a dude who was being released from federal pen in Florida (US Coleman after 15 years) and being transported to South Carolina state prison to do a ten year bid, and he was really looking forward to stopping at McDonald's. He had not had it in 15 years. He was black.
Transport/extradition sucks. It was a small van and we were shackled the whole time (feet and wrists to waste). They stopped at other jails for piss breaks and for overnight stays-- lunch and dinner were McDonald's (you could order $5 worth of shit, but motherfucking transport guards would only order $3 worth and pocket the change. Shit adds up as you had 8-10 prisoners times 2 meals a day. Took a fawkin week to get from Orlando back to Texas. There was a motherfucker who was being extradited back to Washington State. Apparently, that can be a 3 week trip.
Finally, one of the guys being extradited back to Texas was being extradited on a misdemeanor theft charge. They hauled his ass in from Sarasota for a class B misdemeanor. Lol.

I've only been in jail and it was fucking boring- especially if books were scarce. I was in annex at one point that had 60+ dudes and 1 guard at a time. Of the 60+ dudes- 10 were legit gay and another 10 or so were compromising.
It would have actually been enjoyable if they had ESPN or something for football games. I had commissary and I was pretty much left alone because I'm not a gangbanger and my offense was bullshit. Also, I generally know how to keep to myself and I'm fairly pleasant to be around.

I had one jail experience where there was a TV and the nogs in the unit past curfew would put on this weird maybe local access channel that played shitty 70s blaxploitation movies at night. It was pure kino, think I even watched Black Caesar there. Also saw a wheelchair bound elderly sex offender try to fight a guy for the phone, the whole unit watched and jeered and it was possibly one of the funniest moments of my life. I possibly even Enjoyed it (stlaker).

There are worse places as long as you keep to yourself. I got to catch up on sleep and had zero responsibilities for 90 days. I basically lived Patrick's life sans booze and bar slop. Jail/prison would actually work wonders for Patrick. It would be the best thing that ever happened to him.

He would need at least 60 days to begin to correct his behavior. No access to the internet/social media would be hell for him and he would definitely go through violent withdrawals. He'd get his ass beat regularly for mouthing off. The C.O.s would hate the shit out of him and would allow the inmates to steal on him and pretend they didn't see it happening.
