We try to develop complicated but psychological reasons Pat is the way he is but the reality is much simpler. As a kid he realized his lies would be torn apart the minute an adult started asking questions so he formed a two pronged defense: 1) refuse to answer any direct question or respond with a terse denial if they don't already know the answer 2) demand to 'be heard' IE tell your entire story included naked assertions of fact to out the onus on the other person to prove he's wrong.

He is weak minded and unintelligent, so he can't allow anyone to build a syllogism because he can't actually defend his positions. He's also so stupid he thinks not ever being in a position to be proven wrong makes him right.

Its really the logic of a child. It has worked for him for 40 years against his family and associates that dont have the energy to play his game . Then he thought it would work in the courtroom and it has sunk his court cases for the last 5 years while costing him over $100k.

Even he knows he is a 12 year old child in a 44 year old fat drunk body.
