I get what you mean. If he was just some dork who wrote a couple of books that got published then you could almost feel happy for him. But we're through the looking-glass here. We know what a vicious and mental cunt he is and how awful his essentially self-published books are. So we mock him.

At the risk of doxxing myself, my grandfather was a moderately successful author in his lifetime. He had his fingers in a few pies but he wrote a few books in his middle-aged years which sold very well in the UK for a while. He wasn't anything like a household name but has a Wikipedia page and enjoyed a lucrative and laid back existence in his time (i.e. way better than Fat.) Point is I know about those publisher's boxes they send authors. 30-40 copies each. My grandpa used to give them gratis to family and friends and the odd reviewer. That's what they're for. Fat rushed out to hand sell them to fellow tosspots in the bar. Desperate, pathetic and sad!
