The whole celebrity signing convention thing is interesting - you’re seeing more and more well known major actors that are no longer the box office draw they once were doing these. You’ve got guys like John Travolta, Mel Gibson, Richard Dreyfus, Sly Stallone, etc now on the circuit but at the same convention as guys like the soup Nazi, butch Patrick, and Lou Ferrigno. There’s a great documentary that could be made (or Christopher guest type mockumentary) about these autograph conventions - from the wide range of stars doing them (A list to Z list) to the people paying large amounts of money to meet them.
You know these shows have to deal with ego / demands of these stars (even if they’re washed up) as well as the stars dealing with each other in the backstage holding areas of these cons. Also you know there’s gotta be some washed up guys upset someone is there that can charge more / have a large line while they sit there like lonely Virgil.
I remember Howard Stern had Richard Christy and Benji go to the Chiller con in north jersey and interview the really low list guys (some were on like one episode of Star Trek, etc) and of course they all bitched about how they don’t charge high prices like William Shatner and all hated that Shatner does these and makes a ton of money while these guys usually lose money.
