To be fair, that’s what happened due to the writers strike since those kind of shows don’t technically have writers. They were scrambling for anything to produce until the strike was over. ABC just said fuck it and put Monday night football on ABC as well as ESPN just to have Monday covered
No the masked singer is a worldwide hit. I don't understand how. It's some z lost nobody and people have to guess who it is and guess a listers who would rather be caught fucking a disabled child than go on that show

I was talking about the famous relation show that’s coming out soon. I know masked singer is a hit but again don’t know one person that watches it. I’m guessing a lot of these shows being hits come from fly over country and boomers.

Think about all those singing shows, dancing with the stars, America’s got talent, those random NBC/CBS prime time drama shows - they all claim to have millions of viewers but I’ve never spoken to a single person who watches any of them. The Simpsons falls into the exact same category.
I think you underestimate the power of normies.

"The episode soared to 7.8M total viewers after seven days of viewing on linear and streaming platforms, making it the show’s most-watched multi-platform telecast on ABC since the September 2021 premiere. That’s up more than 2M from the live + same-day audience that Nielsen recorded for the episode."

For comparison, a show it seemed like everyone watched, Succession season 3 averaged 7.2 million viewers.

The woman who does Marge’s voice sounds like she’s about to die. Maybe she will have to die so they finally end the show. I don’t even know who their audience is, it’s not anyone who likes the great early seasons.

Nah that won't stop them. They'd just use AI voices or impressionists who can come close enough (the original voice actors sound like that themselves anyway at this point). They'll continue to rape the corpse of that show for as long as it's still making them some amount of profit.

Network television is a scam. That's just statistics. A show can be on TV for years if only two million people watch it, which is less than 1% of the country. Odd are you would never interact with someone who watches that shit.

I threw on a new episode a while ago out of morbid curiosity. I was prepared for it to completely suck but I wasn't prepared at all for the voices. Marge truly sounds on the brink of death. Carl is now voiced by a black guy who is doing a bad impression of Hank Azaria's Carl voice. I thought they just got rid of Apu but no, he's still there and is voiced by a street shitter with a regular dumb street shitter voice. It's all fucking jarring.

True. Well at least Mr Burns' voice still sounds accurate...

That is def a gen X turning into their boomer parents show, I saw the other day Sebastian Bach of Skid Row was on and thought “does anybody under 35 even know who that is?”
I had no idea who he was until Luis brought up that they were arguing on Twitter so I checked out Skid Row which also made that OnA bit about that stupid sounding super group rock show much funnier. “I’m a savage ANIMAL, you’re a SAVAGE ANIMAL, ROCK AND ROLL IS A SAVAGE ANIMAL!” He looked like a tranny on Artie Lange’s DirecTV show too.

Fair enough, but I do feel like I knew people who watched shows from the 90s / 2000s like The OC or CSI or Boston Pubic. Maybe it’s just the nature of TV these days now that people have hundreds of different of entertainment options.

It looks like they still use Nielsen for ratings which I think is an estimate based off a sample, right? Seems a little outdated for this day and age when Anthony Cumia can see he had 120 views on In Hot Water.

Boston Public was a good show. I seriously thought that's what high school was gonna be like.

I think all these viewership numbers are drastically inflated to get more ad revenue. You can't know exactly how many viewers there are so they make assumptions. Especially if you go by page clicks for streaming where the average session could be, say, 2 minutes.
There are tons of nursing homes hospitals and airports that just leave televisions on one of the big networks and they sit idle for weeks. Same with boomer households who use the TV as background sound at home or whatever.

Tons of inflated numbers.
