She played a junkie character I liked in one season of that God awful American horror story show, but yeah, if she's got actual range, then directors aren't using it. She basically has given off the same vibe with all her characters dating all the way back to Deadwood.

Which season? I gave up after Apocalypse, so I might have missed it.

That show had great premises every season, then promptly squandered them in the worst ways possible.
