Its hilarious how he tries ( and fails) to fit into groups he isnt a part of. He is so awkward and transparent. Even at the bar he is an outsider that gets jealous of groups having fun while he wishes he had a circle of drinking buddies to hang out with. He is a total vibe kill for anyone having a good time near him.
He goes to a bar and gets annoyed people around him are being social. Nothing he does makes sense because he’s forever awkward. He’s “that guy” at the bar everyone does their best to avoid.
When the news was at that bar for an Aaron Rodgers promotion, even when he was sitting next to a "friend". He was so distracted by where the camera was and if he was able to be seen. He was also wishing he was a part of a group of dudes high fiving and carrying on. It was what he imagines himself when he is in FratPat mode. He just didnt fit in. It all was very telling.
It's like that episode of Malcolm In The Middle, when during an escalating war of nerves, Malcolm publicly exposes and humiliates his lonely bully older brother Reese, for lingering and mithering near a random group of guys for months so it looks like he has friends.
