Terrific. I am ashamed I forgot some of these. Re-Animator, Phantasm and Videodrome are some of my favorites as well. Jacob's Ladder and Peeping Tom too.

Recent watches I loved were The Serpent and the Rainbow, Burnt Offerings, Infinity Pool, Enys Men, Society and Santa Sangre.

Inland Empire might be my favourite horror film ever. It just gives me a sense of dread that I really don't get from any other film.

If I want some jump scares then Hell House will get me every time even though I know where all the scares are. It's not the best film ever, but it does that one pretty well.

Did you watch Skinamarink? I can't believe i wasted my time with that, but I thought the concept could have been good. More Reddit hype train bullshit.

Also The Lighthouse was fucking cool and, speaking of Willem Dafoe, Antichrist is also PFG. Actually I liked most of Lars von Triers stuff.

I liked the new Screams too, but the reveal of 6 is unforgivable contrived.

I really like that everyone has a different take on Lynch. It's the mark of a good experimental artist I think. Eraserhead was the one I couldn't get into.

Phantasm was good fun. That Scottish actor was a great guest on talk shows, too. Videodrome I only watched once. I liked that one movie with the vigilante. Cronenberg. Jacob’s Ladder I found way too depressing.

The book is great. I like the films Last Man On Earth and Omega Man which are also adaptations. I Am Legend kind of sucked, but I think I just don't like Will Smith. I barely remember the movie except the dog.

Sean Patrick Flaherty is possessed by a demon and the ventriloiquist dummy lookin' guy is the therapist that's gotta do the final assessment on whether he's crazy or not. It's looks about 30 years out of date which weirdly enough helps you forget your watching a contemporary movie which makes it easier to go with. The theological aspect of the dialogue is pretty tight. I've only seen one other user talk about this movie and they believe it to be a work of total non-fiction (you'll never guess who it is)

The guy who played the possessed fella should've won an Oscar. Mesmerizing performance. Seriously I'm not kidding. He looked like he was trying to crawl out of his own skin, literally, every moment he was on screen. He looked more like a literal mentally ill person than an actor playing one.

It was also a fascinating film from a business perspective: while it was very low budget, most of the film is dialogue between him and the shrink. There's no production value. It relies on the written dialogue, the performance of the leads, and the philosophical issues at play for it to work as a film. And it does. Then they marketed it on Youtube on alt right channels and it's becoming a viral, cult hit.

It didn't convince me people who get abortions are going to hell but I enjoyed it and couldn't stop thinking about the guy who played the possessed convict. Even if you're not a religious simpleton like @NoBacon, it's worth watching.

I think I started a thread about it. Very good movie. I tried to read the book it's based on and it's fucking trash. The scene with the priest is probably one of my favorite scenes in any film.

I don't have a real favorite but I love these films.

You ever see Stagefright? That's one of my favorite Italian movies.

 

[Lunkhead]

Dawn of the Dead: Extended Mall Hours Cut is probably my favorite. Not the scariest movie, but a great premise, nice mix of horror, action and adventure, cool soundtrack by italo-horror band Goblin, and even though the effects don't hold up, it was the 70's. Who cares? Fun movie all around.

Alien is a great sci-fi horror mix. Same with The Thing. Everyone's seen these a million times so nothing more needs to be said.

Phantasm another great low budget cult classic with weird elements that make it more fun than scary. Got to meet the director at a screening and clammed up like a faggot. I don't even know why. It was a childhood favorite, but I couldn't think of anything interesting to ask.

Man Bites Dog was a great horror-comedy about a documentary crew following around a serial killer. I threw it on a couple times after bringing chicks home in college because I thought "It's an artsy Criterion movie. They'll love it." Needless to say the rape scene wasn't exactly a panty-moistener.

That’s definitely one where you need to understand who directed it. Lynch was a new father and was worried about his new responsibilities. He also was acclimating to his new surroundings.

He’d grown up in the remote Rockies and at one point lived in north Philadelphia once he was married. One Sunday he’d seen an eight year old boy shot in the street. There was also an incident where he had to chase crack heads out of his house who had broken in with a sword of all things given to him by his father in law.
