From what I understand about Canada (maybe somebody there can tell us) the current government is handing out money, about 350k a unit to build housing that will likely be filled by new immigrants. They just gave the city of London like 74 million for 2000 units to be built. Imagine a world where the state owns your house, your doctors, you don't own a vehicle, and they make every foodstuff but gruel unaffordable.

They've tried giving free housing to bums in California. They would smear shit on the walls, set the houses on fire, strip them clean, etc.

Those places will all be completely destroyed by the inhabitants. Most of the homeless people who are living on the street are there because they're fucked on drugs to the point that they act more like raccoons than people. They can't appreciate anything and they don't want to live a normal life, they just want to be high, thieving raccoons.

Pat has never touched a drug in his life and being that he barely leaves the house and doesn’t has friends he has never actually known or seen a drug addict. Typical of him to say “they just want a house, then they’ll stop doing drugs is just stupid. Give an addict a house and now they just have a new place to do their drugs and let the house go to shit because they don’t care, they didn’t pay for it!

None of that is true. @LongIslandchomper already covered it but again, they're junkies incapable of functioning. Throwing a roof over their head is no different than giving them a cardboard box. The home changes nothing in their behavior except where they shoot up.

He’s never known a serious drug addict and probably has never seen one. He doesn’t understand what hard drug use does to people - some to the point their body needs it like heroin. He thinks it’s like weed or something and once they give them a house POOF drug problem done! It’s like he doesn’t realize there’s rich people with serious drug problems so it’s not a housing issue. It’s up to the addict to want to get clean. It’s amazing how closed off he is to the world.
