What’s crazy is college kids now probably never saw Old School. Movie came out 20 years ago and I haven’t heard anybody quote it in years. I was in college when he was at his peak (Old School - Anchorman - Talladega Nights - Step Brothers) and it was like EVERYBODY loved and quoted those movies. But now?

You dont know zoomers. They fucking love Will Ferrell shlock like Step Brothers and Elf. The only other people that come close to being as revered as him is Steve Carrell for just being in the Office.

I saw Get Hard and The House. Both were so terrible I honestly forgot about them. I guess you can count Barbie since he had a supporting role, but other than that he really hasn't done a successful movie in a few years. I think that Holmes and Watson movie was so bad it really did a number on his career.

Yeah that Holmes one was the only other one I could think of, I remember he did two more movies with Wahlberg and I think some animated / voice over roles. That Holmes / Watson one seems to have really hurt him since John C Reily still gets work. They thought having Ferrell / Reily together again would be a sure hit but it flopped bad. I read Ferrell is even in talks to do a sequel to Elf which he had turned down years ago because he didn’t want to do sequels at the time (he also turned down an Old School sequel where they would go on Spring Break)

Yeah I knew there was problems with Caan thought Ferrell was an asshole and Faverau didn’t work with Will again so you know he couldn’t stand him. Ferrell used that “no sequel” excuse until a couple years ago and being that Elf is popular and played every year that might be his best chance at getting paid. Im still surprise how Old School is pretty much forgotten when they really wanted to do a sequel and it was directed by Todd Phillips who went on to do the hangover movies.

I know him and Adam McKay had a falling out which is pretty crazy since they’ve been working together since McKay was head writer of SNL (I remember Jim Breuer said he didn’t get along with McKay which fucked him over at SNL)

I forget who told it (prob Breuer) but Will had been doing a version of Ron Burgundy when he was at SNL (Started with the Robert Goulet impression) and he would be “Ron” all the time for table reads and all and wouldn’t break character and see how far he could go with being “Ron”. This annoyed the other cast members so Breuer, Colin, and Tracy Morgan wanted to get him to break so they jumped Will and threatened to rape him, pulling his pants down and all to see how far he would go in character. Colin and Jim held him down while Tracy Morgan watched the door. He broke character and got upset and cried to McKay about it.

Will Ferrell wanted to play Dr. Jerry Buss in that HBO Lakers show, Winning Time. McKay cast John C. Reilly in the role and Will Ferrell took it personal and they stopped talking to each other and Ferrell basically ghosted McKay (doesn't return emails/texts/phone calls). They dissolved their working relationship and friendship. Meanwhile, Winning Time won't make it to season 3 as HBO has axed it.
