So we have this Godless SOGI program in the schools here. It's sex ed starting at kindergarten and includes all the letterqueer bullshit of course. Last year our daughter was coming home pretty upset about the whole thing so when I got this email today
I was just on my way to pick up my kid at school so I left a bit early, swung by the office and left my name and number with the receptionist so the principal could get in touch with me. Then I went and stood by the gym where we pick the girl up at the end of the day. The principal (a fat, oily looking man) came out and found me a minute or two later and asked what was up.
"Yeah we'd like to use the alternative delivery for the SOGI curriculum."
"Oh you can't do that."
"What? There's a policy in place. I just got the email today and read the parent information and then followed it through to the alternative delivery information"
"No as far as I know there's no policy where you can opt out."
"I didn't say I wanted to opt out. We can't opt out. I just want to use the alternative method."
"Noooo I don't think you can do that."
"I have the policy on my phone. Look."
"Oh no no see its for grade 10. It says so at the top."
At this point I'm scrolling and pointing directly at where it says K-9.
"It mentions K-9 right before mentioning the alternative delivery."
"You know I'm not to sure about that."
Oh you're not you greasy prick? You were pretty sure a minute ago that we couldn't do it and now it sure sounds like you don't know what the policy is. But I'm going to keep playing nice for now.
"Well if you could find that out for me as soon as possible that would be great."
"Uhh yeah, sure.. Hey do you mind if I ask why you want to do this?"
"Mainly because she kept coming home last year pretty upset about pictures she'd seen and things she'd heard. We figured if we're going to have to help her contextualize everything we might as well be directly involved."
"Oh okay well that's understandable (liar I can see that he's upset - he's too pale not to turn red).. What kind of pictures were they?"
"For example there were pictures of penises."
"What? I don't know why she'd see that."
"Me neither."
"Uhh well you know the best thing you could probably do is ask her teacher about what sorts of things they'll be covering."
"So I can get the curriculum from her, then?"
"Well I don't know about that.."
"Can I get it from you?"
"Well I don't know what exactly she'll be teaching and when.."
Now I'm getting pretty pissed at this idiot.
"Look. I'm a naturally argumentative person so when I hear things that don't make sense I start to get a bit animated. That said; You're the principal, right?"
"Yeah"
"So your job is to make sure they teach the curriculum?"
"Of course."
"Wouldn't you have to have access to the curriculum to verify that?"
"Yeah but I said I didn't know when she'd be teaching specific parts of the curriculum."
"I didn't ask you when. I asked you what."
"Uhh but.."
Thankfully my kid's class was just coming out so I waved to my kid, shook his greasy hand and told him we'd leave it there for now but please do get back to me on that policy. He was fucking seeeeeething. So am I but it's not his kid they want to indoctrinate into thinking cutting your tits off is cool and valid.
FUCKING COCKSUCKA
I downloaded the pdf with information for parents and guardians. Inside I found this:In alignment with Board Policy 106, we acknowledge our collective responsibility to ensure that “every individual is treated with fairness, respect and dignity and is included fully in the life of the community."
The xxxxx Board of Education and the Superintendent would like to reaffirm their support for Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity (SOGI) in the xxxxx School District. Discussions about SOGI focus on understanding and supporting the diversity that exists in our schools and workplaces, our broader community, and Canadian society. Staff, students, parents, and community partners are all valued members of our district community, and each has a role in creating a safe, respectful, and welcoming environment.
SOGI is protected under the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, the B.C. Human Rights Code, and provincial legislation. For more information about SOGI, we encourage parents and guardians to refer to our resource: Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity (SOGI): Information for Parents and Guardians.
Together, we are committed to creating environments where every member of our school community feels safe and supported. We believe that by working together and valuing and affirming diversity, we strengthen our commitment to equity and incl usion.
Hey right on, let me check out the alternative delivery policy:What if SOGI-inclusive educat i on doesn’t align with my family’s values – can I remove my child from SOGI-inclusive educat i on?
Individual families will always have a range of opinions on many topics, and it is expected that some parents or guardians may be apprehensive about aspects of the school system that may not align with their family’s values. That said, it is the role of public schools to uphold the Human Rights-inspired values of inclusion, dignity and respect for all persons, regardless of real or perceived dif f erences.
Sexual orientat i on and gender ident i ty are topics that are interwoven through several curriculum areas, school act i vit i es, and arise in conversat i ons about students’ daily lives. Therefore, it is not possible to inform parents or guardians every ti me SOGI-related content may arise at school.
The Ministry of Educat i on and Child Care has allowed for some fl exibility in the delivery of topics related to reproduct i on and sexuality in the Physical and Health Educat i on curriculum through the Alternat i ve Delivery Policy. Please contact your child’s principal if you’d like to discuss opt i ons.
Now I know we've got some real dummies here so I'll just note that this policy applies to the SOGI curriculum grades K-10. Pretty clear and unambiguous language, I'd say. Obviously we want maximum control over how they teach her these things; we can't avoid having her learn about them but if she's not learning in an environment where it's presented as good and cool to be a faggot that's better than nothing.Policy Statement
Students and their parents or guardians may arrange for alternative delivery for certain sensitive topics contained in the following Education Program Guides:
Physical and Health Education K-9
Physical and Health Education 10
Rationale for the policy
The education program guides above include certain sensitive topics related to reproduction and sexuality that some students and their parents or guardians may feel more comfortable addressing by means other than instruction by a teacher in a regular classroom setting.
The purpose of this policy is to explain how students and their parents or guardians may, in consultation with their school, arrange for alternative delivery of instruction about reproduction and sexuality.
Authority
Ministerial Order 295/95, the Required Areas of Study in an Educational Program Order (PDF) says that Physical and Health Education K-9 is a mandatory part of an educational program offered to all students.
Ministerial Order 302/04, the Graduation Program Order (PDF) sets out the graduation program requirements. Physical and Health Education 10 and Planning 10 can be taken to fulfill a portion of these requirements.
Policy in full
The Physical and Health Education 10 provincial curricula include topics related to reproduction and sexuality that some students and their parents/guardians may feel more comfortable addressing by means other than instruction by a teacher in a regular classroom setting. These include learning standards outlined in the following education program guides:
Physical and Health Education K-9
Physical and Health Education 10
In such instances, students, with their parents' or guardians' consent, may arrange to address topics related to reproduction and sexuality by an alternative means. This must been arranged in consultation with their school. The alternate means must be agreed upon by the students, their parents or guardians, and the school.
The alternate delivery policy does not allow students to “opt-out” of learning about these topics. It is expected that students will, in consultation with their school, demonstrate their knowledge of the learning standard(s) have arranged to address by alternative means.
This alternate delivery policy does not apply to any other learning standards or learning outcomes in the education program guides listed above. Nor does it apply to any other British Columbia provincial curriculum.
