I sold part of my winery for $120m to finance my own movie that everyone is now saying is shit before it is even out. This is further evidence nazis are destroying everything!

He made a movie he's been thinking about for 40 years. He based it on the fall of the Roman empire. It's set in the future, New Rome, where people wear togas and there are chariot races.

:image_9248: Fucking ewwwwww...
:brothaman_sm: You don't care for the place being call New Rome there, Jimmy?
:image_9248: I think he stinks.

Moscow was called “The Third Rome” in the Late Middle Ages, I think.

Who fell off harder: Ridley Scott, Coppola or Scorsese?,
Scorsese has some bombs that are just buried in obscurity like HBO's Vinyl which was a total disaster and lost $100 million or the movie Hugo which lost another $100 million. The Irishman might have lost even more. Scorsese's career has a bunch of nine figure bombs which is hilarious. These guys just figure out new ways to incinerate and combust piles of cash.

I'll laugh when Coppola has to declare bankruptcy because of this film.

Coppola (kind of) made interesting movies after the 70s - but, yeah, it's him - he's the one who fell off hardest. Scorcese had a career-high run in the 90s, it was one great film after another. Ridley Scott has always been all over the place - I love Black Rain but its hardly one of his greatest, even Thelma & Louise (a high point for him) was kinda dumb (Oi! Look! We feminists now cause we shot a rapist! Girls can shoot things too! - this was done a decade earlier in Abel Ferrara's Ms .45).

Saw the Megalopolis trailer - heard about this film for years, never sounded interesting to me - guy just lost the fucking plot, it looks ok for what it is (like a higher budget netflix movie) but that's not saying much.

Coppola stopped Cronenberg getting the Palm d'Or at Cannes in 96 for Crash - an absolute cunt move, the jury wanted to give it to him but Coppola apparently refused - cunt (they literally went around Coppola and created a 'special award' to recognise the film). And there's the Salva aspect to.

To be fair, where do you go after Apocalypse Now, probably the greatest film ever made?
