As much of a joke it can be, Opie steering the ship was good for the show evident by everything post OnA. Yeah he took callers and went to break when everyone was on a roll

Norton building up Anthony's confidence day by day only to tear it all down in one phone call is probably his most sociopathic and psychotic moment in his entire wretched life. Confiding in Anthony secretly behind Opie's back day and night. Creating this fantastical idea of their own comedy troupe that would takeover and dominate radio. Free of Opie. And that all they had to do was figure out a way to distance themselves from Opie and just take the entire audience with them. Must have made Anthony feel like a winner every single morning. Like had hit the lottery once again, like with Opie taking care of his career, now Norton was guiding him and leading him in his next careers phase, the Anthony and Jim show. Their limitless future.

Only for Norton to completely take all of it away and inform Anthony "yeah that was probably never going to happen anyways...I just signed up for something called the Opie and Jim Show, if your Sirius still works you can listen". Leaving Anthony complete in the lurch and abandoned. It must have been one of the worst moments of Anthony's life. To know that Norton lied to him all of those years and felt zero confidence and had no faith in Anthony being able to accomplish anything without Opie. Brutal.

Anthony was probably giggling to himself like a little faggot about he and Jim would break the news to Opie. "Yeah you're on your own.....we are doing a show without you.....you piece of shit".
