My mom always kept bread in the fridge. It always pissed me off because you'd make a sandwich and the bread would be all hard. Pretty sure it takes like 3+ weeks for store bought bread to spoil. Mine stays on the counter on top of the bread box because the bread box is all full of batteries.The bread in the fridge rules.

Sometimes the store has the fawkin 2 for 1 deal and I cant pass it up but I also can't eat that much bread before it spoils so one goes into the freezer.
