There are lots of troubled people in the Bible who are not identified as being demonically possessed. The vast majority of lepers, mutes, blind people, lame people etc. were not exorcised by Christ and his disciples, just healed. It was not and never has been the go to explanation for people's ills unless they meet certain criteria.
