I have the dubious distinction of following the WNBA closely since about 2017, solely because of gambling. In no uncertain terms, and by any measure, the league is an absolute joke.

The most obvious inherent problem with the WNBA is the fact that women are involved, so obviously it's a bunch of faggy shit all the time. But even beyond that, the biggest problem with the product itself is simply a lack of talent across the board.

The fact that they are now adding expansion teams is comical. Who do they think is going to play for these teams? The talent disparity between starters and bench players is impossible to quantify. The only team with any depth at all is the Minnesota Lynx, and they're not even in title contention because two teams (NY and Vegas) are hogging all of the good starters, making the league even more imbalanced.

I cannot stress this enough, there are less than 25 women on planet Earth that are truly qualified to be professional basketball players. I'm not saying the average guy can beat a WNBA bench player, or that every shot is an airball. I am objectively stating that the talent disparity between the players is too great to constitute a professional league.

I believe if they really went all-in on embracing the fact that gambling is the backbone of their league, they would be much better off. Put live odds on the screen, all that shit. But again, these are faggy women, so when one retarded guy sends an empty death threat to a player because they missed a shot, they'll call in the ACLU or whatever the fuck, protest their own games, and make the news for all the wrong reasons, just like always.

Sports Illustrated (I think?) did an article about Bobby Riggs and the Battle of the Sexes and made a pretty convincing argument he threw that match. People forget Billie Jean King was the second ranked woman in the world and like 6-8 mos before that match Bobby Riggs had beaten the #1 ranked woman in straight sets

This one from ESPN? The claim is he used the match to pay a gambling debt, which makes sense. I saw something from some NPR fag who argued that he couldn't have threw the game because he lost so badly. That's the kind of sports analysis I would expect from public radio.

Why is gambling so big for WNBA? The only two good teams win so you have a 50-50 chance of winning?

In the summer you can really only bet on baseball, tennis or the WNBA, so it gets a lot of action. Plus now that betting is legal in the US and they're pushing the Caitlin Clark shit so much, people are betting on it more than ever.

The odds to win the championship right now are +160 for Vegas, +180 for NY, and every other team is +750 or much higher. It's basically sure profit to place equal bets on Vegas or NY, but if you put $100 on both, you'd only be getting back $60-80 and wouldn't get paid until October. Players do get injured and anything can happen, so I wouldn't want to tie up my money for that long, but it wouldn't be a bad investment in my opinion.
