I was going to go to a Queens of the Stone Age concert sober, because when I went inside (or rather outside) the venue, the beers were $6 and they were in fucking Dixie cups. The open act came out (Throw Rag) and they were not gud. I knew there was a bar across the street and I asked the doorman if you were allowed to leave and come back. He said, "yes." So I went across the street where they had $2 pints and I probably drank around 15 of them in less than hour (leaving a $2 tip for each one and so they didn't care how many I drank).

I got pretty well buzzed and went back to the concert just as Josh Homme was taking the stage. He nursed one beer through the entire set and he said maybe 10 words to the audience- but it was a damn fine show. I think if I didn't drink, I wouldn't have been as into it as it was fucking cold, he seemed aloof, and he was playing tracks that I wasn't as familiar with as they had just released Lullabies to Paralyze.
