It’s easy - You only go to conventions that aren’t important enough for the people with actual qualifications to go to and you offer to do a presentation for free.

I’ve gone to a bunch of actual industry conferences and they suck ass and I hope to never go to another again. Patrick speaking at one is not impressive.
