Shit, even the regular one. I was staying away from it b/c I wanted the next iteration to come out so it would be a bit more powerful and it would have a bit more bug fixes behind it and all the little quirks would be worked out. Anyway, they are now releasing an OLED version but better than the fact that it has a sexy ass OLED/HDR screen, it also has like 100 other little fixes from the fans to a new fan curve, updated software, new analogs, bigger screen, 50% bigger battery life, more storage up to 1TB, lighter weight, 90hz instead of 60, your moms box, updated bluetooth, new wifi meaning faster downloads, 6nm process instead of 7nm (more efficient), faster charging, 1000 nits in HDR mode, improved haptics and buttons in general, new trackpads, longer charging cable, new speakers, and more. It's crazy to be honest witcha. Like even the Nintendo Switch OLED upgrade had a few other things minus the screen but not like this. We all heard about how the Steam Deck came out hot and was really rushed to release with undercooked hardware and software so it looks like they finally have the unit they wanted to release over a year ago. My only complaint is there is no VRR on the monitor but not a huge deal. It would have been nice, but you can't have everything I suppose.

Anyone have one and know what I could expect? Just to be able to play Skyrim or Diablo 4 on the go is pretty sick.

Forget about the faggot in the video. Just check out the Limited Edition version of it that comes in a see-thru frosted smoke plastic with reddish-orange accents. Love it.

I’ll give you my perspective as someone who is a complete retard with technology. I bought an original Steam Deck a few months ago and returned it less than 24 hours later. In my experience the software was extremely buggy. For example, after I factory reset it in preparation to return it, for whatever reason it wouldn’t turn off unless I held down the power button and forced it to. That alone made me not regret returning it at all. I also found it unbearably uncomfortable to hold but that might not be your experience. Because of its size and weight it’s definitely far less comfortable than any regular controller though.

If you’re a tinkerer and can figure computer stuff out, then maybe but not even. For the same price you can find a decent used prebuilt with better specs and will be more versatile. Actually I just realized the oled is $549. Fuck that. Total ripoff. If you absolutely need something portable just spend a bit more and get a gaming laptop. I wouldn’t confidently recommend it to anyone, not even this new one since the reliability doesn’t seem to be there yet in general and when I buy something like this I just want it to work and I don’t want to constantly worry about it breaking like I did in the past with a shitty MSI gaming laptop.

Also if you’re planning on using it in public like on a plane or something, you’ll easily look like the most autistic person there. Not that you should really care but I get self conscious about that because it seems like the Steam Deck is the nerdiest thing you can buy right now and it’s not nearly as plug n play as a Switch or even a regular PC.

ive had the steam deck since feb

i dont know if i can say i recommend it

i was planning on selling it after i beat cyberpunk, but now it looks like its not gonna go for much with this new version coming out

it crashes, needs to re download stuff constantly, and a bunch of the games you could play on regular pc dont work on steam deck (a-lot do tho)

i got it as a gift kinda, if i paid my own money for it I think I would be more pissed, i dont know

i have it plugged into my tv, and i like its all my steam games, steam has ridic sales on games

I have fucked around with one enough to be very impressed but I also think playing games “on the go” is gay as fuck and you should sort your fucking life out. Also I didn’t bother reading either of your posts.
The funny thing is I never play 'on the go'. Ever. The only time I ever use my Switch or any portable is the few times a year I'm in a hotel or on my couch. I just like that you don't have to be planted to your computer chair to play. I can go in the living room and play a game while watching a Hockey game or whatever.

Na I think people said they were still getting like $400 for their 64gb devices. They are selling very well tbh and I never thought they would. I thought it would go the way of the steam controller and the streaming deck they came out with. I have one and used it once and never used it again.

Not a Steam Deck but I used to be intrigued by ARM retro handhelds. I never got one because I was scared they'd turn out to be crap once in my hands. All I wanted out of a gayming handheld was a replacement for my PSP that could play SNES games.

In that case, definitely just get a gaming laptop then. Do NOT get a Steam Deck, trust me. The only way it would actually be practical is if you fly regularly and absolutely must play PC games all day every day.

OLED technology is amazing, not gonna lie. I have a OLED TV and after a few mins of inactivity it's goes black, but fades in a white clock every few seconds. If the room is pitch black, the time looks like it's floating in the dark. It's especially evident with phones. I've always had a black background on my phones and remember always having that glowing of the white backlight LCD behind the panel turning the black into dark gray.

Love da OLED.

I have the original one once you figure out how to run Windows game on it it's pretty straightforward process. I have been running bootleg Windows games on it no problem, very smooth and no crashes etc. But you need to know a bit about how to use computers so it's not for woman if you know what I mean

The bigger storage is not worth it just buy a 512gb sd card for like 20 the load time is the same

But I have been thinking about that ROG Ally it's got Windows and I think it can even replace all my computer/gaming laptop
