I went to prison once. I was 17 and I was driving to a rainbow gathering in Montreal with a lesbian and a gay goth guy. It was the late 90's. I'd been hitchhiking around for a year or so and ended up in Florida. Somehow I hooked up with these fags and decided to go up north, back to where I came from. We stopped to work at a renaissance festival in Harriman, NY and got busted for sleeping in our car alongside some railroad tracks. Trespassing and disorderly conduct. I don't know what happened to the fags but I was taken to the Orange County CorrecTional Facility. (this is in upstate NY) They did a standard intake on me. Spread your cheeks, cough, delousing powder, cold hose-water. All that shit. Then the guard who took me to my cell had a laugh by telling me "So, I'm going to take you to see the nurse., and when you see her, you need to ask for condoms, because when someone comes at you in here, you need to say: "Please. Put this on. Because I don't want to get any diseases."" Then he took me to a private cell where I waited out the weekend and that was pretty much the whole thing. Maybe older guys get less latitude.

Never been deloused, but did have to watch a two hour video on how not to get violently raped (is there any other way?) The hardest part about jail is the waiting- either waiting to be assigned a bunk or a cell or waiting for a court date (especially if you don't have an attorney or you have a court appointed one). If you have a legit attorney, they can get your shit on the docket in no time. If you don't, it's going to take awhile as you sit on ice with the rest of the riff raff. An attorney can also get you a bond if you don't have one or a lower bond. A decent attorney makes all the difference.

Edut: you got anymore cool hitchhiking stories? I've never hitchhiker, but I have accepted rides from some weird motherfuckers.

They had only 2 cells in the Harriman county Jail. Both were filled. That's why I had a 45min drive to the Orange County CorrecTional Facility. Which is where most felons from NYC used to go. That's why I had an intake. It wasn't a Jail it was the actual prison where they held me for two days. I was in possession of about 1.5 grams of hashish. They tested it in front of me with some sort of liquid and a vial. I fucking hate cops. Don't need em.

One of the story's was about an older man coming on to me, I don't know why I told that story in this situation, I was a teenager, ok?. Anyway he became very amorous as a result of that tale and asked "You mean you never even had a guy suck you off before?" and then described a situation in his younger life where he blew a guy. Then he asked me if that exited me at all. Then he put his hand on my shoulder and said, in his redneck accent. "cuz I would, ya know. If ya want me to." and I clutched the pair of scissors in my pocket tightly. You would get bad treatment by cops if you had a normal blade on you. I told the trucker it was cool and that I treated everybody the same. Still I consider being let out of his cab without being raped an escape.
