Nixon was given a blanket pardon before any charges were filed, so no.

No. When Nixon resigned Ford immediately pardoned him. There was some debate of the legality but no one challenged it. So pre-emptive pardons are a thing.
Trump could have pardoned every J6er in 2020 under this same precedent and he did not. Will he issue blanket pardons now? Some people think he will. I believe he will do some selective pardons for the PR win and everyone else will rot in prison or serve out their current probation.

I want to believe you as I thought of this myself -- how could he pardon anyone when he's senile?
But this is all controlled. It's a stage show. Fauci and the J6 DC Police did the needful (remember the tatted officer who straight up lied to congress?). The system is protecting itself. They could throw Fauci under the bus but then the stability of the system comes into question -- if I see what they did to Fauci, then I don't know that they'll protect me when I do X for them.
Also the senile man pardoning is just another part of the humiliation ritual.
I hate to be this paranoid about the government and it really shouldn't matter in my day to day life, but I do know people caught up in J6 and I have to live with the consequences of political stupidity daily. My wife is more of a typical conservative now and is all happy that Trump is taking office today and even fucking played a rap song geared towards magatards. MAGA really went from a mainstream WN platform to full blown conservative trash very quickly, and it fucking worked.
