Dice worked with a comedian(?) named Hauerback or something close to that. He would do the bit constantly to annoy the guy.

The background story is that dice's agent was named Auerbach, and Dice used to tease him all the time about his name. he’s got a hunchback. Can’t you see he’s got a bad fucking back???

Which is exactly why Dice tells the audience, "You're laughing, and you don't know why you're laughing". Because there's no way they get the joke, yet they laugh. It's kind of interesting from a sociological point of view in regards to human behavior in a crowd setting.
