I never see them mentioned here, so either you all secretly play them and don't want to get bullied, or you're so uninterested that nobody got a hate thread going yet.

I was partial to a bit of D&D before I had kids. Used to play weekly with a few friends and family and had a Cleric that I was pretty invested in. I wish I could go back to playing without it feeling like a waste of time, like video games do.

I don't know about D&D, so you have a "Cleric" that you levelled up with XP or something gay?

But it's like a boardgame, and you can bring this build to different people who don't know you? what's to say I don't have a level 100 Charizard and just lie about how I got him to be so good?

The first four or so minutes of this is great.

The entire series is worth watching but obviously they never finished it because Trevor died but the first four minutes is a good idea of what it is.

I mostly played with the same group, but usually you'd have to run your character past the DM and they would say what you can or can't do according to a mix of official and/or house rules, for instance they might say you can't bring a particular item if it'll break the game. We had a player who had access to a Wish at really low level, because another DM gave it to them, but they weren't allowed to bring it into our game.

Maybe it was the DM I played with but rolling dice for an hour-long fight against three goblins is boring. It was fun fucking around and causing trouble in town even though it pissed everyone else off. Like, just for fun I lured a guy back to my inn room just to rob him then (surprise!) kill him and stuff his dismembered corpse into a trunk. I stabbed open his stomach to make sure he didn't swallow anything valuable and I found a copper piece. Fuck yeah.

But yeah I don't play because people look down on fucking around. Well EXCUUUUUSE MEEE for spicing things up. I'm bored.

This is what happened, it use to be so easy to find some likeminded people and get a game going and have a good time, if you roll with randoms online now they 4/10 times you'll get someone who's anal about the gender/disablity shit and the game gets focused on trivial nonsense instead of shooting the breeze and trying to solve odd situations creatively, they feel like an even bigger waste of time so It's worthless to play.
The feminine presenting goblin wants you to help her solve the humanitarian crisis of the knights caging her fellow goblin, you must save them! God forbid you ever try to go against their railroad narrative or you'll just get removed/punished in game.

That’s why I try to avoid strangers with these types of games. With friends and/or family you can set the right tone and don’t have to worry about too many conflicting goals/ideologies unless that’s what you’re going for with your characters.

Vaguely aware of it as old lore but I got into 40k around a decade ago, I’ve read every HH book and every Dark Imperium book and a few other series like Gaunts Ghosts, there’s a lot more to get to but I will at some point.

I haven’t played many battles but I’ve got a few armies painted / semi painted / still in the sprues. I repurposed my gaming goblin den into a model building table.

I recommend the Last Chancers. It’s about a penal legion that goes on dangerous missions. If they survive, they get their sentences commuted. Like those Suicide Squad movies.

I’m also a big fan of Commissar Ciaphas Cain. He’s a guy who just keeps blundering into heroic situations for the Imperium.

If I remember correctly, you’re a Gray Knights fan. They have some books too but I haven’t read them personally.
