I don't think this a stunt, I think this is a real shift. Muslims used to be Republican voters until the Patriot Act passed, because they agreed with Christian conservatives on most things. W. Bush got something like 2/3 of the Arab and Muslim vote in 2000, but it flipped and 2/3 voted against him in 2004 and they've been Democrats ever since.
Pat Buchanan even wrote back then how the Christian Right shouldn't alienate Muslims since they are on the same side. He was ignored, just like when he was against NAFTA (which he was right about) and opposed the invasion of Iraq (which he was also correct).
Muslims being in the same party with all the LGBT and anti-religious zealots was never going to last.

Maybe somewhat in the sense that they didn't actively reject it but they're both republics. The last sovereign dynasty in China was the Qing dynasty which ended in 1912. The last vestige of Chinese monarchy as far as I'm aware was the Manchukuo puppet regime in ww2 in Machuria but that doesn't count.

Both republics, not monarchies, therefore not really "imperial". That's what I meant. A republic can't be imperial,
