WWAW Gorguts?

Not sure which one of you faggots recommended it, but Obscura by Gorguts is an incredible album.

Gorgoroth? Oh, Gorguts? Impressive, listened to a bit- you're not wrong, never heard it before but will definitely buy it. These type of bands are pretty unique in death, I only know of Cynic and Pan Thy Monium that do this extreme type of prog-esoteric math-rock stuff. Old Gorgoroth (all I know) are pretty good too.

Obscura is PFG. I like that it sounds like it's a genuine experiment, as if the band had no idea how to write music like that, but thought they would give it a go any way. Their other stuff is hit and miss for me, but worth a listen.

I was listening to the erosion of sanity just yesterday. Obscura was genre defining for sure. The follow up,from wisdom to hate gets slept on. It’s a great album as well.

Gorguts were great. Their early stuff was good and Obscura was pretty rad for it's time and laid the groundwork for both insufferable noisy death metal bands with no concept of composition and the opposite of that. Negativa was a nice spinoff band as well. One of my favorite stories about Gorguts is back in the 90's Luc Lemay the leader of Gorguts was backstage at a show with the cult war metal legends Blasphemy practicing violin. They called him a faggot.

Also there is one song on Obscura that has a riff identical to a Kitty song. Obscura predates it but it's funny and I am ashamed I recognized it. There are several nu-metalish riffs accidentally buried in Obscura as well, but that is not an accusation as it is coincidence built from the ambition of that album.

There are quite a few of them. Gorguts, Ulcerate, Gigan, Rings Of Saturn, Origin, Wormed, Blood Incantation, and a bunch I'm forgetting.
