Where we at with da Monty Python?

Ain't it fun?
I think the original series is way better and I personally love Life of Brian.
I had a tough time finding it to download years ago, not sure if that's better now.

It's super self-aware and "meta" and was afaik the first TV show to break the fourth wall, which today may seem kind of dated and hacky.
I cannot name a single bad episode, it's all quality writing and the sometimes shoddy production actually adds to the bit.

watches seasons 3-9 all the time, child.
It was a good series, but much like Big Lebowski its fanatics get too geeky about it and ruin it. Apparently, they tried to continue the show without Cleese... oof. I watched Live at the Hollywood Bowl countless times as a kid.

If any American poofters want to watch a British series that isn't fifty years old, I recommend Black Books and Toast of London.

When I was like 11/12 I thought Holy Grail and Life of Brian were funny. In hindsight they're dumb fun movies with a few good lines, but it's goofy and British shit. It's fawwkin comedy maaHhn, don't take it too serious! I'd say it's not as funny as Mr. Bean though.

Still spreading the O&A virus
In Bruge, The Guard, Layer Cake, or even something like Snatch or Sexy Beast are all better adult comedies from Britain. VEEP from HBO was made by an Italian Brit. I tried watching Holy Grail last year and I bailed out around halfway through. Just unfunny monotonous garbage. Monty Python is basically childish leftist trash. Even stuff like Jackass that is as base as you can get is more creative.

A better parody of medieval fantasy was the South Park episode where they returned the porno VHS to the store that parodied Lord of the Rings. I laugh at that episode still.

Sweet powder eases the pain
Everyone agrees that Holy Grail was great. I thought Life of Brian was good too, but a bit forgettable. What about the rest of their stuff?

Try LIB on acid. I've always been a huge Python guy (got to meet Eric Idle) but that movie never grabbed me. For some reason I put it on on LSD a few years ago, now we watch it on on Easter every year to confuse the kids(we're not into Jesus and they barely recognize pictures of "him") and usually on Christmas too(usually on acid as well). After you watch it once on acid, you don't have to be on it every time for it to be awesome but some parts are way nuts.

Meaning of Life I don't know if I'd suggest on acid and it never grabbed me either but I watched it again a couple years ago and it was great.

The reunion/retirement thing was super disappointing.

Also, unpopular opinion: "And Now For Something Completely Different" is the best versions of those early sketches. "Nudge Nudge" and "Parrot" they rush through on the series.

Also amazing is "Live at Hollywood Bowl." That and "ANFSCD" would be my recs to first timers. And then get yourself some acid.
