Where are we with the Grumpy Old Men flicks

Matthau was better in the 70's (Taking of Pelham 123) but Lemmon definitely peaked in the 90's at the end of an already illustrious career. Matthau had a little boom in the 90's too but seemed to phone it for the most part by then. Kevin Spacey's impersonations of both of them in the "Star Wars Auditions" on SNL (during the Norm years) are rib-crushing.

Ann-Margret and Sophia Loren were two women that were fortunate enough to never actually experience The Wall. So yes: Those movies rocked.

And as a bonus, they were funny too: Matthau and Lemmon rocked (these were done during Lemmon's Glengarry era, FYI), Darryl Hannah and Kevin Pollack were good in the roles. Burgess Meredith was a thirsty-but-funny old bat. And you could sell all this shit in the 90's. Not so much today.

It would never fly these days, without some Globohomo shit and general cuckery. But who would want to see Matthau and Lemmon do that?
