The DMAN has been "around the block" in regards to file types. He knows his way around your traditionals like .jpeg, .gif, even .bmp files. He was first introduced to the .png somewhere in the late 2000's by some anime retard... See, now that one changed the game forever. But it's getting hard to play with photoshop when you search for a specific picture, and you keep getting this .webp bullshit. It barely opens in The DMAN's computers and photochop won't recognize it. He was trying to make a nice little Serch poster for the Fans out there, and it came down to this incompatible frustration.

Now The DMAN won't lie, he's not using the latest apple computer. But this laptop was new 10 years ago...

Nevertheless...

.webp is blurry shit, even at top setting. The whiskers and fibers of the cute dog's fur are barely visible. And the pet she's holding looks blurry too.

Who let this shit become the norm? Blogs and other faggot websites that appear in The DMAN's search results use .webp which just makes him curse Google HQ hoping something teaches those people a fair lesson. .webp at worst quality looks like the last shit that dog took. WOW, it takes up 3 kb less space and looks FUCKING TERRIBLE!!! Great job developing that! Assholes. The DMAN will now listen to your answer.

WEBM was a cool replacement for GIF on image boards even though 4chan never let you use VP9 until like last year.
I used to experiment with WEBP and found in my non-scientific study that it compressed better than JPEG at higher quality settings but was blurry as shit at anything lower.
Lossless WEBP is alright.

I think it's for compatibility for media streaming and exchange between browsers/OS' or some bullshit. WebRTC streams in all my dealings have been webm. The drawback is anything more than a few years old is completely incompatible and just can't use your app. The no-brainer option for most users is to just update your systems, but then you remember that companies like Apple deliberately make it impossible for devices that are ~5 years old to update (so that niggers and women keep buying their shit products), yet they are still used often by 3rd worlders and kids whose cheap parents wanted to buy an ipad off ebay for $100.
