The original was such a good and clean concept that's even more relevant today. Technology is replacing us at an increasingly fast rate, and it's portrayed by a man fighting for his life against a cold ruthless robot. You don't need more than that to get the idea across.

When you mess with the simplicity by turning the robot into a good guy, and by introducing "an even MORE advanced robot!", it distracts from the man vs machine notion and turns it into a capeshit story for people like Pat.

Plus, the happy ending of T2 contradicts the haunting statement of the first movie. I guess we can just keep relying on technology for everything, because we burned the dangerous chip.

The action and the overall production still holds up well obviously. I just wish the rest was more like the first one.
