Watching The Host (2006). What the fuck do South Koreans have against Americans?

I've only seen this and Squid Game when it comes to shit from South Korea.

In Squid Game, all the contestants dying was to entertain a bunch of white American men. In this film, the horrors begin because a white American guy orders the poor Korean worker to pour toxic chemicals down the drain.

Fuck these chinks.

Shit movie. But to answer your question: military bases and the rapes, murders and environmental damage that go with them.

If I had to guess, probably lingering resentment from the years after WW2. Japan owned Korea so since they were bombed to fuck the Soviets and China got the North and the Allies got the South. Problem is that North Korea is a lot closer to China than S.Korea is to any allied country. The US weren't ready for them getting invaded by the north to start the Korean war. The south was basically fucked until UN forces showed up and invaded N. Korea which cut off their supply lines and forced them to withdraw. It never got fully resolved.

Didn't we used to have a guy to explain all this shit?

Korean movies are so weird.

I saw one where this gangster has to go back to school. He's kind of the protagonist though. A goofy gangster born into the life. One day the teacher punches a girl in the face, so another kid hits the teacher. Then the gangster beats the everyloving Christ out of that kid. I guess that's Confucian morals or something??

Also, there's a really weird bit of 'comic relief' where they all get circumcised then they look at the really hot teacher and get boners, causing them to roll around on the floor in pain.

This is a real movie, btw, not a fever dream.

I used to be really into Korean movies, watched like 200 of them circa 2015-2017.
There was a romantic comedy where a student finds out she is betrothed to her new teacher so they start a relationship that they have to hide from the school and the heartwarming moment at the end is when they profess their love to each other in front of everybody (who all support it).

They did have some really great comedies that were so off-beat that I've never seen anyone mention online.

Just looked up my Letterboxd, it was 181 films, not 200.

Korean films and movies have surged in popularity since then which I feel is a bit odd since the quality is not what it once was.

Like the film Lady Daddy for instance.
I thought it was only so-so but the premise is so outlandish that you can't help but be glued to it. Sadly, no one seems to have seen it. 308 votes on IMDB.
"In the comedy “Lady Daddy,” a young child from a divorced family searches for his father. What he doesn’t know is that his father is now a woman after having sex reassignment surgery."

"An unattractive guy and a beautiful blind girl are in love. But their relationship is turned upside down when she regains her eyesight and he doesn’t want to show her his face."

Korean and Japanese movies are fucking melodramatic dog shit. The Chinese are the only slants that know how to make good movies.
