I don't think that's the general consensus. It has the better sequel too. I also just like Nick Nolte, the gruff cunt.

I don't know anyone who thought it was better, but Cop probably made a lot more money, so I guess people did. But 48hrs had better action, better story, better characters, and was much funnier I thought (both Murphy and Nolte).

Bev hills cop was just an Eddie Murphy "vehicle," to put it gayly.
