Watched The Killer (2023)

So Fassbender is an amoral autistic assassin, got it.

What’s the point? The little monologue in the epilogue about needing to feel secure and not being able to accept fate, and you’re JUST LIKE HIM?

I dunno. Very underwhelmed. Felt like there was nothing here.

It looks good, cool clothes, cool fights, but just felt thin overall to me.

I enjoyed it quite a bit tbchwy. I agree that the plot is very thin - it’s about as bare bones a revenge thriller as you can get but I didn’t mind that. You just kind of have to take it for what it is.

It did completely hinge on Fassbender being a good enough actor to carry it though. It’d probably be pretty shit with a less interesting actor.

I liked it more than other people. It felt like an exploration of the limits of that cynical worldview; this character thinks he has it all figured out, that the world has absolutely no meaning except the movie kind of shows that things are more complicated than that.

That moment isn’t even at the end. It’s like halfway through when he says “How’s ‘I don’t give a fuck’ working out for you?” to himself.

But yeah, it wasn't the best Fincher has to offer.
