Watched Dog Day Afternoon (1975)

There's a great story, I don't know all the details of it, but the director's next movie almost bankrupted the studio.

I seem to remember something about shooting the movie on some vacant land, tearing up the land, and the owner demanded an obscene amount of money to relandscape it. Turns out the owner was the director who picked the location so he could shoot there and bill the studio for yardwork. If he's a gentile he's my hero.

EDIT: Ah fuck I meant Deer Hunter

Shhh let these faggots keep discussing Best Picture nominees that are unanimously considered classics as if they’re hidden gems. “Hey, did you guys see John Cazale in The Godfather Part 2?”
No one is discussing them as if they're hidden gems. OP obviously hasn't seen most of the classics which is why people are recommending other classics for them to watch.
