It might be my favourite Coen film but I always see it talked about as one of the worst ones.Big coen bros fan Fargo is best but this one really holds up for me at least
The Brad Pitt death scene was probably as close to a realistic caught by surprise shooting as you can possibly get. Some pretty funny moments. Every scene with Malkovich/ every scene with the CIA guys/Clooney's hobby/Brad Pitt getting shot in the face. Solid Coen
It was also fucking hilarious. His sheepish expression when caught. I howled! The Brad Pitt death scene was probably as close to a realistic caught by surprise shooting as you can possibly get.
Even if it is one of their worst, it’s still an above average movie overall. It’s one of their most misanthropic movies and has some great moments with very hateable charactersIt might be my favourite Coen film but I always see it talked about as one of the worst ones.
Have you seen A Serious Man?All in wit da coens. Barton Fink is like an anti-semitism booster shot.
Of course but there's something about Barton and his faggy and fake simping for the common manHave you seen A Serious Man?
I didn't even make it through that one.Hail Caesar is the only one of their movies I wouldn't watch a second time.
I actually didn't mind it. The Josh Brolin character was based on a real guy, as was the Blanchett character. 50s Hollywood was a weird place. A lot of red scare stuff, paranoia, fixers, commies, right wing jew studio heads, scandal sheets, starlets getting backroom abortions etc. I thought the movie captured the time and place well, through the typical kooky Coen lensHail Caesar is the only one of their movies I wouldn't watch a second time.
